AND AVOID

C.H.A.O.S

By Andrea Schlack

Each year hardworking business owners lose money to fraudulent companies who were extended lines of credit. When deciding on how best to manage your receivables G.E.T. S.M.A.R.T. and be your own Agent 99 (I mean come on Don Adams Agent 86 was kind of an idiot). Don't let C.H.A.O.S. ruin your revenue stream with these simple steps.

G

ather information on your potential customers before a line of credit is extended.

E

xamine the company by searching for lawsuits, tax liens, and entity status.

T

horoughly assess your customer's ability to repay any lines of credit by determining the company's assets and revenue flow.

S

afely extend conservative lines of credit with new customers until a payment history has been established.

M

onitor your receivables on a regular basis in order to identify slow-paying and delinquent accounts as soon as they are past-due.

A

lways have personal guarantee's on larger lines of credit that are extended to smaller businesses.

R

e-assess customer accounts by double checking with trade references, entity status, and lawsuits to identify problem accounts before they happen (Re-assessment is recommended at least once a year).

T

rust that you have taken the necessary steps to have CONTROL over your receivables.

Avoid C.H.A.O.S. by
identifying the actions that cause it:
C

ompany has not been researched properly regarding entity status, lawsuits, and liens.

H

igh lines of credit extended without a secure loan or personal guarantee.

A

ssets and revenue stream have not been determined.

O

ld accounts have not been re-evaluated by re-checking with trade references, entity status, and lawsuits.

S

ignatures are absent and all contracts are done with a handshake and a verbal guarantee.

As 2015 approaches remember to be your own Agent 99.
G.E.T. S.M.A.R.T. and avoid C.H.A.O.S.!

Good Collections Is Not About

Being a Bully

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for all your help resolving the invoice dispute with my customer. I tried for a year to resolve the dispute by myself.

It seemed that it would be easy because they had paid all the other invoices. After a year of trying, I finally made the call to PICB.

Within 2 weeks the dispute was resolved and I still have a customer! Actually, out of the 2 other times I used you, the only customer I lost was the one that went out of business. You are a great resource for our company.

Thanks again
