PRINTERS AND PIA MEMBERS BE WARNED!
THE BAD GUYS ARE BACK AGAIN….
We have been alerted by an East Coast Member that they were recently victimized by the old Canadian mail scam and we wish to warn all to be very careful that you are not similarly victimized.
THE EASY FIX —– Check the customer’s address and if it is a UPS store or some similar type of business, know that your hard earned money may be at risk.
DO NOT RELY UPON THE COMMON FEE
BASED REPORTS AS THEY RARELY
IDENTIFY A MAIL DROP
Should you determine you may have been marked as a potential victim, again the easiest way to confirm this is to ASK YOUR CUSTOMER to verify and identify their true business location and VERIFY IT —If they won’t—you don’t!
This last victim lost more than $50k, and in the past, I have seen losses as great as a $1/2 mil.
Here is how this newest gyration works, The so-called customer–and the name always changes– contacts an unaware printer with the perfect job—a cheap postcard mailer or similar ‘mailer’ piece, indicating high profit, low costs, and rapid turn times. They promise to pay cash in advance and they actually do send you a check payable to you for everything, you then deposit this instrument thinking it to be good and it’s not.
Believing you have the perfect customer you complete the printing quickly and deliver it to the post office for mailing–You look forward to future profits and print opportunities only to be shocked when the check comes back as a worthless instrument—and naturally the customer has now disappeared with your hard earned money!
Many printers over the years have asked ‘How do they profit off this?’
Easily, they are hawking products consumers will buy – and by the way there really is no product delivered either, if they get 1% purchasing their phony product which costs between $19.99 – 99.99, do the math—with little effort –the time to find a willing victim—how much money did they make at your expense.
PLEASE ALL BE CAREFUL…
