DON’T BE THE NEXT VICTIM
Never accept ANY change in payment or direct deposit instructions via email! Changes may include but are not limited to; Payroll, Deposits, Invoices, Wire Instructions, ACH Instructions, Vendor Payments, Expense Reports, Billing Instructions, etc.
TAKE PROACTIVE MEASURES TO PREVENT FRAUD
• VERIFY INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM UNIDENTIFIED COMMUNICATIONS
Any emailed payment requests via phone or other means, particularly when there is a change in payment method should be automatically deemed suspicious.
Contact the supposed company issuing the change to verify using contact information you have on file, not from the email
Help employees, Vendors, and Customers learn more about tricks and scams that fraudsters use as these can negatively impact them as well: When they become victims you could become the ‘trickle down consequences.
Everyone needs to recognize a potential malicious intent from phone calls, emails and text messages.
The more who know the less likely a fraudster can steal your money.
